TEAM INFORMATION
Mesa Swim Team emphasizes intense stroke work for the first four weeks of the season, followed by a focus on conditioning for the following six weeks of the season. Eight and under and 9-10 swimmers will have ongoing stroke work throughout the season, as needed.
Mesa Swim Team provides a competitive swimming experience within a caring and supportive environment. The team consists of approximately 170 swimmers between the ages of six and eighteen years, experienced and dedicated coaches, and many hardworking parents. We believe in the development of the whole child with emphasis on fun, encouragement, and pride, all of which result from regular progress and hard work. Many of the friendships and memories which our children develop last a lifetime. Mesa Swim Team is a member of the Boulder Valley Summer Swim League. We are not affiliated with Mesa Swim Club or Mesa Elememtary School.

Parents The success of the summer swim league rests in the hands of the parents! Most importantly, parents provide encouragement and positive feedback to their children. In addition, every parent must commit to helping with our home swim meets and with other team activities. Please communicate any concerns or suggestions to Jennie Kopf, our Parent Liaison to the coaching staff.
Coaches are responsible for planning, coordinating and running the practices. Stroke work and conditioning are emphasized. Coaches schedule the individual and relay events for the dual meets and maintain records of the swimmers times. At meets, coaches interact with the swimmers to provide encouragement and advice on their performances.
Swimmers are expected to attend practice regularly. Through consistent practice and attention to the coaches, swimmers will improve swimming techniques and times. It is important for all team members to support each other and display good sportsmanship throughout the season.
Mesa's Big/Little Swimmer Program
For many years, Mesa Swim Team has had a mentoring program where older, experienced “Big” swimmers encourage their younger “Little” swimmers throughout the summer. Interested eleven to eighteen-year-olds serve as "big swimmers" and are paired with "little swimmers," ages 5 through 10 years old, at the beginning of the season. Parents, if your swimmer decides to sign up to be either a “Big” or “Little” swimmer, they really need your support and guidance throughout the summer. In the past, some swimmers, both young and old have been disappointed by the lack of involvement and/or appreciation on the part of their little or big swimmer. Please remember that this program is entirely voluntary and will only work if both “Little” and “Big” swimmers participate equally.
The purpose of the Big Swimmer/Little Swimmer program is to:
